GUIDED DISCUSSION CIRCLES IN TUCSON
Exploring Life’s Deeper Questions in the Wisdom Years

Come as you are — to a space where meaningful conversations are had, heartfelt memories are awakened, and deeper connections are made.

These bones might creak, but this soul sings.

elderhood = where small talk goes to die and real talk takes over

Kind words from participants

Not dead yet—and not done talking either.

I don’t need fixing—I need a good chair and better conversation.

FAQs

  • The 'Big Talk' Discussion Group is a professionally facilitated, on-site discussion group designed for older adults. Each session invites participants to reflect on and share personal stories and insights in response to meaningful life questions—about courage, legacy, change, identity, aging, and more.

  • Groups are facilitated by Ken Plattner, a non-denominational chaplain, counselor, and seasoned group leader with decades of experience supporting people through life transitions, grief, and spiritual reflection. Ken’s light-hearted presence and thoughtful guidance help create a warm, welcoming environment.

  • The standard format is a 6-week series, with each discussion session lasting 60 minutes. Also available by request: longer series; one-time; or ongoing weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly gatherings.

  • All sessions are held on-site at your independent living community—in a quiet, comfortable room that allows for seated group discussion.

  • Each session begins with a thought-provoking 'Big Talk' question such as:

    • “What are you most proud of in your life?”

    • “What was the bravest thing you've ever done?”

    • “What helps you through times of change?”

    • “How do you hope to be remembered?”

Participants are invited to share as much or as little as they feel comfortable.

  • Groups typically include 6–15 participants to foster a sense of intimacy and connection, but Ken is happy to adapt the format based on your community’s needs.

  • Participants report feeling more connected, valued, and emotionally enriched. The group fosters reflection, deep listening, and a sense of community—and often prompts meaningful conversations beyond the group itself.

Aging gracefully is overrated. I’m aging honestly.
